Dedicated to quality since 1855
Pharmacist Heinrich von Gimborn founded a small pharmaceutical factory in Emmerich am Rhein in 1855. His products quickly established themselves as successful branded articles and the company grew.
It was only 100 years later in 1965 that Gimborn became Gimborn, the pet specialist. After the takeover of the English licensed brand Ipevet, the brands Gimborn Hund, GimPet Katze and Gimborn Nager were born. Biokat’s followed in the 1980s as a cat litter brand.
The historical strength of the company has always been its technologically innovative products. These are still developed and produced in Emmerich. In cooperation with universities and vets, the company developed the first lactose-free cat milk. Gimborn is also a pioneer in the addition of vital vitamins and minerals to snacks.
Today, Gimborn products are sold in over 40 countries. Its core markets are Germany, the Netherlands and Italy. Within the German specialist retail trade, Gimborn is the market leader in the most important segments.
The Gimborn group has belonged to the company Penta Investments, based in Prague, since September 2008. At the end of 2012, the company also restructured its marketing and sales departments.
